McLeod Carolina Forest Campus (Phase I & II)

Overview

A.O. Hardee & Son, Inc. partnered with McLeod Regional Medical Center of the Pee Dee to develop a new site for the expanding McLeod Carolina Forest medical campus. Divided into two major phases, the project laid a solid foundation for cutting-edge medical buildings, parking lots, and patient access areas that will enhance healthcare for the growing Carolina Forest community.

Challenges

Both phases of this large-scale project demanded high levels of material management and coordination with subcontractors. With nearly 70,000 cubic yards of cut-to-fill and additional borrow, grading presented an enormous challenge. A.O. Hardee & Son crews had to perform work quickly while maintaining the strict levels of safety and organization required for a healthcare facility.

Solution

A.O. Hardee & Son self-performed and managed extensive site construction services across both phases of the project. Crews completed 69,132 cubic yards of cut-to-fill earthwork, managed 11,790 cubic yards of waste, and imported 17,395 cubic yards of borrowed material. They also installed stormwater systems that included 3,716 linear feet of drainage pipe. Completion of the final surfaces included 11,709 linear feet of concrete curb, 2,343 square yards of sidewalk, and 21,599 square yards of asphalt paving.

Result

The McLeod Carolina Forest Campus now offers state-of-the-art medical services in an orderly, well-designed facility. A.O. Hardee’s involvement laid the groundwork for long-term durability for one of the region’s most important community health facilities.
